Sometimes on Good Friday and Holy Saturday people watch The Passion of the Christ or other movies depicting the suffering and death of Jesus. I do not know if it was on purpose or coincidence that the new Roe V. Wade movie opened on Good Friday. Sure, it’s easy enough to draw a connection between the death of the innocent Jesus and the innocent unborn. However, when we take a closer look, we can also see the connection in the suffering and agony of Good Friday with that of the millions of people who suffer the aftereffects of abortion. My prayer is that these sisters who suffer lost motherhood and brothers who suffer lost fatherhood may experience the healing and peace Jesus gives in this holiest time of year as we celebrate His Paschal Mystery. Since I gave up television for Lent, I look forward to watching this movie as soon as possible in the Easter Season.
